27 Apr Back with Bloch
Hello again, SunFesters — it’s good to be back.
I’m Emily Bloch and for the third time, I’ll be taking you through all things music as one of your trusty bloggers for SunFest 2017.
In the last year, I’ve hit some milestones:
- For SunFest 2016, fellow-blogger Cassie and I came back for the second year as a duo and wow, we made some records. Every. Single. SunFest artist was covered along with all the other important aspects like food and where to sleep. The bar was definitely raised for this year — but we’re up to the challenge.
- I graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a Bachelor’s in multimedia journalism.
- Two months later, I got my first full time job as a reporter (and took a massive breath of relief).
- I went to shows. So. Many. Shows.
I also traveled to multiple college media conventions and taught students the ins and outs of music festival coverage.
Now, I get to practice what I preach.
Two short years ago, I was attending my first SunFest — and blogging about it from the eyes of a newbie. Now, I can’t imagine going a year without it. Everything about this festival seems so wonderfully familiar and simultaneously exciting. I can’t wait to run from stage to stage, eat food out of a hollowed out pineapple (um, hi — genius) and watch the fireworks with all of you.
I’ve been to plenty of music festivals, but walking along the Intracoastal, feeling the water spray your shoulders while kicking back in a lounge chair or going crazy in The Stand to one of more than 50 bands are both experiences you don’t get anywhere else.
And whether you’re a SF Vet with a pin for each year, or a first-timer, I’m so excited to take you through all of it within this blog.
I promise you, this will be your go-to spot for all things SunFest.
Make sure to check here in the mornings to help plan out your schedules and in the evenings to either relive the experience, or brag to anyone who didn’t come along about what they missed.
See you soon, SunFesters. Thanks for having me.
