06 May Saturday at SunFest: Nick Jonas Steals South Florida’s Heart
If you were to randomly stop and ask me who I was most excited to see this year at SunFest this year, I’d give you some coy answer about being excited for all the incredible acts on the lineup. (I mean, I do try to go in as unbiased as possible.) But dear friends knew the truth: I was most excited to see Nick Jonas live for the first time.
Unlike most of his darling fans, I didn’t grow up crushing on the Jonas brothers. I found Nick (and Joe) Jonas’ music when they had moved onto their solo work. Camp Rock didn’t make my ears buzz, but I remember exactly how I felt when I heard “Jealous” come blaring through a club’s speakers.
After his charming Disney beginnings, Nick has quite the catalog to draw from as a headliner. Last night at SunFest, he masterfully toyed with his fans’ heartstrings— balancing sexy new hits with the most nostalgic singles.
Strolling cooly to the center of the Tire Kingdom Stage, Nick rocked a white ensemble with a black leather jacket and shades. While I swooned against the front of the stage, I noticed photographers turning their cameras away from Nick and shooting just off to my right. I awkwardly turned my head to see Joe (and his bandmates from DNCE) standing absurdly close to me, grooving along in support of Nick.

Joe wasn’t in the crowd for long. He jumped up on the Tire Kingdom Stage, prompting squeals of surprise that could likely be heard in Orlando. Together, the Jonas brothers performed their hit “Lovebug.”
Nick would perform “Find You,” “Who I Am,” “Champagne Problems,” “Chains,” Last Time Around,” “Introducing Me,” and of course ended with his smash hit “Jealous.”
I sang and danced along. Many fans cried. I felt jealous of no one— We all had the best seat in the house.
