26 Apr The Year of the Show
Annnnnnnnddddd, we’re back!
Hello, SunFesters — please brace yourself because I’m about to get emotional.
My name is Emily and I’m thrilled to be returning as your assistant SunFest blogger alongside the wonderful, bubbly and super tall Cassie Morien.
This will mark my fourth year of getting to tell you which bands I’m excited about, who you to need to discover ahead of time and what you should listen to in order to get into a sunny mood — there’s a playlist for that.
A little bit about me: I was born, raised and currently work in South Florida as a community news reporter. I’ve written about music for publications including Broward New Times, Fort Lauderdale Magazine and RockSound Magazine. My first SunFest was apparently enjoyed via a comfy stroller, but the first one I actually remember was in 2015 and I’ve been hooked ever since.
According to the Chinese New Year, 2018 is supposed to be the Year of the Dog. And trust me, doggos are my animal of choice (it’s my life goal to pet all of them) — but I think someone got it wrong.
2018 is the year of the show.
We’re in our fourth month of the new year and I’ve already seen Less Than Jake (who are SunFest alumni, by the way), Mustard Plug, Tycho, Descendents and have a bunch of tickets on standby in my iPhone wallet. Even better, I’ve enjoyed each show with some of my favorite people by my side. But the highlight of my year will easily be SunFest.
There’s just nothing quite like taking in a LAUNDRY LIST of great artists while feeling the spray of the Intracoastal and lying on a hammock, if you ask me.
This week on, I’ll be telling you about artists I’m excited to see and things to look forward to this year. So stay tuned…
